Description

The first objective of the project is to define a design flow for galvanically isolated DC-DC power converters operating at high switching frequencies (5-10 MHz), using GaN devices with a 650 V breakdown. The power ratings of these converters range from a few hundred watts to a few kW, and their potential application is the power supply section of server farms. The design flow must identify the circuit parameters that allow for optimizing converter performance, both in terms of efficiency and controllability.A second objective of the project is to identify the converter's dynamics and implement appropriate control strategies. The research project involves the development of a converter prototype, the verification of the control algorithm through its implementation in a microcontroller system.Appropriate techniques for characterizing the converter's performance and identifying its dynamic characteristics through perturbation measurements will be developed and used.
