Evolutionary dynamics of antibiotic resistance and collateral sensitivity networks in ESKAPE pathogens
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
06/MEDS-03 - Microbiology And Clinical Microbiology
Description
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) represents one of the major global public health challenges, making it essential to understand the evolutionary processes that drive bacterial adaptation under antibiotic pressure. The research aims to investigate the evolutionary dynamics of antibiotic resistance in clinically relevant ESKAPE pathogens and to identify strategies based on Collateral Sensitivity to limit the emergence of multi-antibiotic resistant strains. The project will employ experimental evolution approaches to analyze the dynamics of resistance over time in bacterial populations exposed to different antibiotics...
