Application of AI techniques for agrifood system forecasting and decision making
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IINF-04 - Systems And Control Engineering
Description
The research activity concerns the development and application of artificial intelligence and automation techniques for the modeling, prediction, and control of complex systems in the agrifood sector, with particular attention to the effects of climate change on agricultural processes. The research focuses on the integration of data-driven models and physics-based process knowledge to support operational and strategic decision-making in agrifood systems management. Machine learning, data fusion, and time- series analysis methods will be investigated for the prediction of environmental, climatic, and management variables, including scenarios characterized by extreme events, water stress, and meteorological variability. These models will be integrated with advanced control and decision-support methodologies to optimize resource use and enhance the adaptation and resilience capacity of agrifood systems.
