Electrospinning of Biopolymers in Bio-based Solvents for the Production of Out-of-Equilibrium Fibrous Structures

Description
The position holder will be responsible for the formulation of biopolymer-based complex fluids dissolved in natural bio-based solvents, optimizing processing parameters for electrospinning. Starting from the formulated fluids, fibrous structures will be produced by electrospinning through the systematic variation of operational parameters such as voltage, flow rate, needle-to-collector distance, and temperature. The resulting materials will be subjected to mechanical characterization via dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and rheology, as well as multi-scale structural characterization using X-ray scattering techniques (SAXS/WAXS). Microscopic techniques could be used if necessary. The position holder will also contribute to the writing of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and to the dissemination of results at international conferences within the OutBioPoly project.
