Pica Code IR-2026-070 - Development of High Entropy Alloy (HEA)-based materials for protective coatings

The activities to be carried out fall within Work Packages WP4 and WP6 of the European CoBRAIN project, which focus on the development of material compositions based on high-entropy alloys (HEAs), as well as cermets consisting of hard phases, such as TiC, embedded in an HEA matrix, for use as wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings deposited by thermal spray techniques. Accordingly, the objective of the research is to contribute to the design of HEA and HEA-matrix cermet compositions, the deposition of coatings, and their microstructural,micromechanical, and functional characterisation, with particular emphasis on wear and corrosion resistance.
