“InnovaTive and sustAinable MEMbranes” – ITAMEM

The planned activities will involve the study of advanced membrane processes for the recovery of water, materials and energy from brines and other concentrated solutions, modulating the transport properties of membranes, possibly in response to external stimuli, reducing their solute adsorption and the formation of biofilms or mineral fouling. The experimental study will be associated with a theoretical activity of identifying the main chemical equilibria involved in the process and a thermodynamic study. Multi-parametric characterization of membranes will allow to identify key properties useful for process optimization, maximizing its permeability, selectivity and operational lifetime.

Selection process
