Development and implementation of methods for the evaluation of the impact of ITS and C-ITS systems/services - 2026_IPD_DESIGN_2

The research is primarily aimed at developing and applying methods and guidelines to assess the impacts and benefits of ITS and C-ITS systems on transportation networks. The study will evaluate user experience, benefits in terms of traffic flow and safety (including vulnerable road users, cyclists, and public transportation systems), and environmental effects (emissions and sustainability); where relevant, the impact on autonomous vehicles will be assessed. Innovative approaches - while compatible with existing European guidelines - will be implemented, combining: literature reviews and analysis of past experiences, traffic modeling simulations on road segments and signalized intersections, physical laboratory simulators, road tests, and GIS-based representations of vehicle behavior. Among the aspects to be considered are land-use planning and planning of mobility systems, as well as the resilience and vulnerability of transport networks
