Innovations for sustainability and circularity in food and fashion systems - 2026_IDR_DIG_65

The research programme aims to investigate innovative circular economy and sustainability practices and related performance measurement models, with a focus on the agri-food and fashion sectors.In the agri-food sector, the research will be conducted within the Politecnico di Milano Off-Campus initiatives and the Food Aid Hubs (Hub Aiuto Alimentare) of the Municipality of Milan. It will analyse local needs and types of food surplus to identify new opportunities for donation, valorisation, and circular micro-entrepreneurship at the local level. The research will also investigate the Food Aid Hubs as an exemplary circular economy model, applying multidimensional approaches to assess their environmental, social, and economic impacts.Within the same sector, the programme will investigate product innovations, such as novel foods providing alternatives to animal-based proteins, analysing their development from a socio-technical perspective and developing tools to assess the feasibility and
